You’ve asked and we’ve listened! Today we have upgraded our servers and disk space yet again. Apart from even faster performance, Mac Hosting Basic now includes 5 GB disk space and Mac Hosting Pro includes UNLIMITED disk space in the DV Host cloud.

This means that there has never been a better time to order one of our Mac web hosting plans. To try us now with our worry-free 60 day money back guarantee, please choose either Mac Hosting Pro or Mac Hosting Basic and order today.

Replace iWeb and MobileMe hosting with DV Host

Apple iWeb hosting
With Apple shutting down MobileMe iWeb web hosting, we would like to mention that we fully support iWeb. If your iWeb website is looking for a new home, why not give us a try? Even if you are already seeing the dreaded "MobileMe is closed" message, we can get you back up and running in minutes. We would be delighted to help you transfer iWeb websites. Simply sign up for one of our Mac hosting plans and we'll do the rest.

Or if you have any questions first, please do not hesitate to email customer.service@dvhost.com.

How-To: Access Client Area (cPanel) directly

Here's a handy little shortcut: instead of going to our website and clicking Client Area every time you want to access the Client Area (cPanel), simply add /cpanel to the end of your domain, and you'll be greeted by the familiar login screen! For example: www.yourdomain.com/cpanel

This works for webmail as well. Simply add /webmail to the end of your domain. Example: www.yourdomain.com/webmail

How-To: Upload your website using an FTP client

In this how-to, we are using Flow, our favourite FTP client, but you can use virtually any FTP client you wish. The settings will remain the same.

In your FTP client, please use the following settings:

Protocol: FTP
Server: ftp.dvhost.com
Username: Your account username, which you will find in your welcome email
Password: Your account password
Path: public_html

Once you have entered these settings, click Connect. You should now be able to drag and drop files and folders to upload them.

How-To: Addon Domains (Pro accounts only)

For this how-to, we'll assume that your primary domain hosted with us is called www.maindomain.com, and you want to host an additional domain called www.addon.com.

First, you need to add your addon domain:
Login to the Client Area (cPanel).
2. Click on "Addon Domains", which you will find under the "Domains" heading.
Addon Domains

3. You'll see a form named "Create an Addon Domain". The only fields you need to fill out are "New Domain Name" and "Password". Also note the username that is generated, as you'll need it later for the publishing setting.
Addon Domain 2

Next, configure your Publishing Settings in RapidWeaver:
Go to the File menu and select "Publishing Settings" and use the following settings:
Server: rw.dvhost.com
User Name: addon@maindomain.com (this is made up of the username that was generated when you added the addon domain, followed by @ and your primary domain name. If you do have any problems, please contact our support team.
Password: The password you chose
Path: /
Addon Domain 3

2. Click Test Connection to make sure your settings are correct.
3. Save your settings by clicking OK. That's it, you are ready to publish.

Tip: One great feature of addon domains is that each addon domain has its own unique login information, which is firewalled from the rest of your account. That means you can safely hand it out to clients.

Mac App Store results in 100% more sales

Is the Mac App Store good?
It seems like customers are voting with their feet, and the launch of the Mac App Store has not just helped Realmac Software sell more copies of RapidWeaver, but also indirectly increased our sales. Asking some of my colleagues at DV Host, I found out that we are all buying more apps. Why? Because it’s incredibly convenient, there’s no need to deal with the hassle of license keys, and software companies have lowered their prices. LifeHacker recently published an article about some of the benefits of the App Store.

Over the past few days, we have noticed this effect filter through to us. As more new people are using RapidWeaver to build websites, they are beginning to look for quality RapidWeaver hosting. As a result, we have seen a 100% upsurge in sales. Here’s a BIG WELCOME to all our new customers, we love you and we are dedicated to providing you the best and most reliable RapidWeaver web hosting anywhere!

Elixir Graphic's Adam Shiver releases "Atom" theme for RapidWeaver

Professional, versatile, and beautiful. Atom is a theme that is perfect for just about any sort of site — blog, portfolio, business, personal, anything you can think up. This is probably his best theme ever, and we have already purchased our copy. It costs $14.95, but you can get a 15% discount with the coupon code SPLITTHEATOM until February 8, 2011.

50% more disk storage space, still $3.99

We are extremely happy to announce that we are giving away 50% more disk storage space with every account, while maintaining our famously low prices.

That means you'll now get 1.5 GB (upgraded from 1 GB) on our Basic RapidWeaver web hosting plan, and a massive 75 GB (instead of 50 GB) on our Pro plan. Prices remain the same at $3.99 and $7.99 respectively. If you are an existing customer, you will see the upgrade reflected in your customer area control panel within the next few hours. If you would like to become a new customer, you can order right now. We hope to see you soon!

RapidWeaver 5 has landed

Originally billed to be released during the summer, RapidWeaver 5 is finally here, and it looks like it has been worth the wait! The new version features an overhauled user interface, 6 all-new themes bringing the total number of built-in themes up to 45, a new HTML and XML site map generator with automatic search engine submission, bookmark manager and more. Perhaps our favourite new feature is the new Resources manager, which allows you to manage all your files in a single place. This is very handy when you want to offer PDF documents and other downloads from your website.

Elixir Graphics releases RapidWeaver theme for bloggers

Elixir Graphics have released a new theme called Write with bloggers and writers in mind. In their own words, it's a beautifully clean, super optimized RapidWeaver theme targeted at writers, bloggers and those just looking for a simple clean site design. This is one very versatile template. If you are designing a blog, we recommend taking a look.

Lower cost domain name registration

No matter whether you use RapidWeaver to design your own website(s), or offer your services to others, you probably need to register at least one domain name. The cost of these can add up quickly, especially if you need to register a few, and lower cost registrars like GoDaddy bombard you with irritating advertising as you try to checkout. We are currently in negotiations with a well known registrar, whom we cannot name yet, to offer domains to RapidWeaver users at a significantly reduced rate. If successful, we will pass 100% of the savings on to you.

Updated 4/October/2010:
Our domain name registration service is now live. We have partnered with Dotster, a reputable premium registrar, to sell .com, .net, .org, .info, .biz and .us domain names for between $8.50 and $8.98/year. This includes all ICANN fees, and there are no strings attached. For full pricing information and to get started, click here. You can also transfer existing domain(s) to us if you wish. As our volume increases, we hope to lower prices further.
